It's sort of a sequel to Monster Hunter Illustrations Art Book Set.

As the title suggest, this book contains exclusively computer generated illustrations. These are screenshots from the cut scenes as well as many characters, monsters and weapons used in the game.

There are tons of dragon designs with most of them display in top, side and front views. The details are amazing. This is like the zoo of awesomeness. One of the dragons is as huge as a small hill, when seen in the size comparison chart with other dragons.

The impressive array of dragon busting weapons are cut out individually for display. The ingenuity of design reflects highly on the creativity of the artists. For the characters, they are in different armour and tribal costumes. The pages are filled to the brim with images.

Right at the end is a section on promotional graphics for the game.

This book is most highly recommended to Monster Hunter fans, video game and fantasy artists.

although great but if you are looking for great detail in the in-game monsters, this is not the book for you because the monsterologies are small and i recommend Monster Hunter Illustration which contains large full page monsterologies. but if you are just looking for great CG you definitely should buy this book. also this book is NOT HARDCOVER, it is PAPERBACK

About the Author

Professor Dragan Jovcic, University of Aberdeen, Scotland, UK
Professor Jovcic has been with the University of Aberdeen since 2004. Between 2000 and 2004 he worked as a Lecturer with the University of Ulster. He was a Design Engineer in the New Zealand power industry between 1999 and 2000, and a visiting professor on a 6-months appointment at McGill University, Canada in 2008. His research career has focused on HVDC, FACTS and DC grids. Professor Jovcic has published around 80 articles related to HVDC and power electronics applications, to transmission systems. He has supervised numerous externally funded research projects with the total budget of over £2.5million. He has thirteen years of university teaching experience in the subjects of electrical engineering and control in UK. Professor Jovcic is Senior member of IEEE and a CIGRE member; he is also a member of three CIGRE working groups.

Dr Khaled Ahmed, University of Aberdeen, Scotland, UK
Dr Ahmed has been working in the renewable energy field for more than eight years. He has been a researcher on two main projects sponsored by the EPSRC research council. He is a senior member of the IEEE industrial electronics society and has published over 53 technical papers in refereed journals and conferences related to renewable energy applications, modular multilevel converter based applications, and HVDC systems. Dr Ahmed has eleven years of university teaching experience in the subjects of electrical engineering, power electronics and control in Egypt and the UK. Daily Meditations for Twelve Step Beginnings and Renewal

Introduction

We, the authors of this book, believe a recovery program should be made up of meditation, prayer, and action. This book will try to help readers in each of these areas.

On each page you'll find three sections. The first section will be a quote followed by a few paragraphs on the spiritual message we have found within the quote. We suggest reading the quote and our thoughts on it; then take a few minutes and reflect on your own spiritual journey. How does this quote and our thoughts on the quote speak to your recovery program? Is your program where you want it to be? If so, take pride. If not, think about which of the Twelve Steps you need to work, and what action needs to be taken. We are firm believers that the Steps plus action will solve most problems.

Next on the page, you'll find a Prayer for the Day. We see prayer as an important action. Prayer is an act of reaching outside of yourself. Prayer is an act of asking for help in the task of being human. We suggest reading the Prayer for the Day, and if it fits for you, repeat it throughout the day. If it doesn't, take a few moments and come up with a personal prayer that fits for you. If none comes to mind, use the prayer suggested in Step Eleven, "Thy will be done." Remember, each day we are to turn our self-will over to our Higher Power. In doing so, we get the serenity the program promises.

Finally, you'll find a section named Action for the Day. Our illness was fed by a set of actions. Harmful, destructive actions. A recovery program is also about action. Daily spiritual action. Spiritual action helps us feel better about ourselves and safer in the world. In this section, you'll be asked to take action that is, we hope, made to strengthen your program. Again, if the action fits, do it. If not, think of one that fits for you.

Also in this book, you'll see that we use words like addict and addiction. As time changes, so does language. When we use these terms, we are speaking to both the alcoholic and the drug dependent person. We see no difference between the two. We believe both suffer from the same deadly disease. We ask you to see yourself in the pages, and not in any one word.

Recovery is a process of finding balance between mind, body, and soul. Hopefully, this book will help you find or strengthen this balance.

In Step One, we accept our powerlessness over alcohol and other drugs. But we are powerless over many parts of life. We are powerless over other people. We are powerless over what our Higher Power has planned for us.|

Before recovery, we only believed in control. We tried to control everything. We fought against a basic truth, the truth that we are powerless over much of life.
When we accept this truth, we begin to see what power we do have. We have the power to make choices. When we're lonely, we have the power to reach out to others. We have the power to be honest or to lie. We have power over how we live our own lives.

Prayer for the Day
Higher Power, help me to know that it's You who is running my life. Help me to know that power comes from accepting I am powerless.

Action for the Day
I am powerless over much of life. Today I'll look to see how this is true. I'll look to see what I really have control over and what I don't.

January 2
. . . our lives had become unmanageable.
—Second half of Step One

The First Step tells us a lot about addiction. We were out of control. Our addiction was in control. Addiction managed everything. It managed our relationships. It managed how we behaved with our families. As Step One says, ". . . our lives had become unmanageable."

But we pretended we managed our lives. What a lie! Addiction ran our lives—not us. We weren't honest with ourselves. Our program heals us through self-honesty. We feel better just speaking the truth. We are becoming good people with spiritual values. Our spiritual journey has begun.

Prayer for the Day
Higher Power, I give You my life to manage. When I'm faced with a choice, I'll ask myself, "What would my Higher Power choose for me?"

Action for the Day
Today, I'll be honest with a friend about how unmanageable my life had become.

January 3

Never play leapfrog with a unicorn.

As we work Step One, we accept that alcohol and other drugs are poison to us. We accept our limits. This means we know that hanging around our drinking or using "buddies" can remind us of "the good old days." Hanging around "slippery places" means we could "slip" back into our old ways. This isn't testing our sobriety; it's being reckless with it.

So, let's accept our limits. Everybody has limits. When we know our limits, we protect our recovery against the people and places that pull us from our spiritual center. This is what true acceptance means.

Prayer for the Day
I pray for true acceptance. Higher Power, help me to stay away from slippery places. I will protect the gift You've given me.

Action for the Day
Today, I'll list the people and places that are risky for me to be around. I will share this list with my sponsor, my group, and my sober friends.

About the Author
Hans Gerth is Professor of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin.

Charles Wright Mills (August 28, 1916, Waco, Texas – March 20, 1962, West Nyack, New York) was an American sociologist. Mills is best remembered for his 1959 book The Sociological Imagination in which he lays out a view of the proper relationship between biography and history, theory and method in sociological scholarship. He is also known for studying the structures of power and class in the U.S. in his book The Power Elite. Mills was concerned with the responsibilities of intellectuals in post-World War II society, and advocated public, political engagement over disinterested observation.

Mills initially attended Texas A&M University but left after his first year and subsequently graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1939 and received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1941. After a stint at the University of Maryland, College Park, he took a faculty position at Columbia University in 1946, which he kept, despite controversy, until his untimely death by heart attack. In the mid-1940s, together with Paul Goodman, he contributed to Politics, the journal edited during the 1940s by Dwight Macdonald.

The authors draw upon the lessons and perspectives afforded terrorism literature, social anthropology, and their own field work with Basque violence to question the very validity and utility of the entire concept of terrorism.

About the Author
Joseba Zulaika is an Associate Professor in the Basque Studies Program at the University of Nevada. He is the author of Basque Violence. William Douglass is a Professor of Anthropology and Coordinator of Basque Studies at the University of Nevada.

Is all terrorism like the Basque nationalists?

This book started out as a good overview of terrorism. How words will define the reality of a situation, how terrorism depends on the media for the terror effect, how terrorist attacks are random while still having a target, and a fairly good discussion of how terrorism is defined. However, at about the halfway point, the book became too focused towards the ETA, a terrorist organization supporting Basque nationalists. This book went from a discussion of terrorism, to a discussion of how the police were abusing their power while trying to fight the ETA. I suppose it covered the topic well, but it was annoying because I wanted a book on terrorism in general, not a book about the ETA and the police.
